I am a materials engineer by training, currently completing a master's in design engineering and am ever drawn beyond any single discipline. What consistently drives my work is the part that stays the same across fields: taking something abstract and carrying it through to something real, tested, and usable.
That began in the lab, with circular materials, biobased fibers, and stiffness-matched lattices. More recently I have been following the same instincts into product design, software, and systems, where the underlying questions turn out to be shared: how is this actually built, where does it fail under load, and how do you make it hold up in practice? A material, a product, and a financial system each answer that differently, but the discipline behind the question is the same.
I am using graduate school to explore this deliberately. Alongside my coursework in design studio, behavioral economics, and computation, I am pursuing projects that sit at the intersection of design, technology, and human behavior: a natural extension of the analytical, systems-level thinking materials science trained me in. I am less concerned about the label on the work than with whether the work is rigorously made and if it matters.
